Meet me in Paradise

All that I was holding down,
All that I was holding up,
I let go
And let them fall
On the ground
Where they belong
Amongst other things –
Repressed actions,
Unlived moments,
Unworded words,
Undone deeds,
And finally be free
To do what I want to,
To feel what I want to,
And be what I want to,
Not your idea
Or the notion
You put in a mould.
I can go back to my cave
Where I enjoyed leading
My life a certain way.
I don’t have to do
Anything that you say,
Or listen to you,
Conforming is nature’s way –
Rivers flow forward,
Birds choose to fly,
Moon vexes the sky,
Fire burns
While plants grow;
The circle of life goes on,
But we can’t bend
To the mysteries of life
For we have our own nature
To oblige,
And that should suffice
For you want to go East,
And I to the West,
Let’s start walking,
Maybe we meet
Somewhere ahead.
